Start with the product’s landed cost
Manufacturing or supplier cost, packaging and inbound freight belong in your estimate. If your supplier quote already includes packaging or freight, avoid adding it again. Divide batch costs by the number of usable units, not simply the number ordered.
Enter the fees for your selling arrangement
Look up the referral fee for your product category and any applicable fulfillment charges. For Walmart Fulfillment Services, use the charges appropriate to your item. For seller-fulfilled orders, use your own delivery cost. SKUHarbor does not look up categories, dimensions or fee schedules automatically.
Allow for advertising and returns
Advertising per unit is total advertising spend divided by all units sold in the period. A returns allowance estimates the unrecovered cost spread across sales. Use a conservative assumption if you have little history, then revisit it when your actual results become available.
Test the downside before a reorder
For example, a $20 item with $12 in non-percentage variable costs and an assumed 15% selling fee leaves $5 contribution, or 25% margin. If fulfillment increases by $1 and ads by $1, contribution falls to $3. These are hypothetical inputs, not a Walmart fee quote. The paid toolkit helps compare sales scenarios and calculate reorder timing and cash needs.
